Theme and Motif: Fate

Born on May 31, I am the Gemini of the twelve Zodiac symbols. Determined by the period of which the sun is in the zodiac constellation, the symbols are formed and with that, mythologies. The myth that came with the Gemini constellation was that the two stick-figured formation of the stars were the twins, Castor and Pollux. It was said that one of the twins was watching, as the other twin stole cattle from the "Milky" Way. But when Castor died, Pollux begged their father, Jupiter, to give Castor immortality which he did by forever uniting the two in the sky.

Personally, I find no relevance of stars to my life, and I'm particularly unimpressed by mythology. I understand that most people hear their horoscopes and have an urge to apply it to their lives, but I also see that it is vaguely applied yet blindly believed in. As for me, being a Gemini means nothing, since I am neither a twin, nor a cow-thief. Perhaps I'm being too realistic, but if the opposite of that is being irrational, then I choose to be realistic.

I believe Juliette is also one to be rational and realistic. Perhaps this is why Romeo is the one fancying over fate and stars. Romeo so strongly believes in fate, yet he does nothing about his dark premonitions. This forshadows the result of terrible consequences, but Romeo is determined not to see that by being absorbed in his grievance towards banishment. Perhaps if he were to be more rational about his situation, he would not have died in the end. But perhaps that would have ruined the plot. Maybe the stars will tell us what is to come.
